Search engine tips and tricks to improve your web sites ranking

  Submitting a Web site to thousands of search engines is not enough. Industry experts suggest that if your site is not found in the top 20 results of a search engine request, your promotion efforts have failed. Successful Web site promotion begins with a properly prepared site, before submitting.

Link Popularity: The secret to getting a high ranking with the search engines is how to use and get link popularity. Before we get into this, lets list what not to do.

No Link Farms: These are pages that are designed for the sole purpose of building artificial link- popularity. The key purpose and what search engines look for are relevant quality links. In fact most search engines will penalize sites that are linked by known link farms.

NO Free-for-all (FAA) Link Pages: These are sites where anyone can place their link. The reason this will not work is they tend to lack focus. Again search engines dislike them and will then penalize your site.

NO Unrelated Links: Remember not to link to sites where the theme of the linking site is not relevant to the content of your site. In fact this will damage not only your site but also the site that is linking to you.

Submit your site twice in one month and some search engines will ban you for 6 months. Ouch! These are serious mistakes you can’t afford to make!

Keywords: Some search engines will only accept the first 200 characters in your keywords of your Meta tags, Know the tricks on getting the top searched affective keywords (They are the keys to your world ).

Adding more pages allows you to use more keywords without stacking 50-60 keywords on your home page.

Creatively: Title each page separately choosing keyword rich titles. Create a unique Metatag "description" for each new page that includes specific keywords for that page. Each page needs a clear purpose and provide relevant content about the products you are selling.

Web Hosting: If you have more then one site you need to host them with different hosting services. Here's why. In order for the search engines to see the links as highly relevant the IP address for each site must indicate a different block of IP addresses than the site being pointed to. Here's why. In order for the search engines to see your new links as highly relevant or what search engines tag as "expert" links, the IP address for each new site will need to show a different Class C block of the IP address than the site that is being pointed to.

Whois registration: To be certain your sites will not be tagged as duplicates that may be construed to artificially boost relevant links we suggest the new site(S) be registered in the whois database to a different "dba" or companies which naturally can all legally be owned by you, your wife, or parent company.

Bottom line: Search engine placement is the most cost effective way to attract new visitors to your web site. Companies spend thousands of dollars on online advertising to attract new customers to their web sites. A well placed search engine listing can be thousand times more cost effective in comparison to traditional banner advertising.
